of the most effective Gospel illusions I’ve ever used is finally available
again in a new, jumbo card size version! Show eight 4 X 6 ½” pictures of young people and have one
freely selected. An audience helper signs the back of the card signifying
they’ve made a new “friend.” With the back of the card toward the audience,
you have them describe four “bad” things they might do to a friend. You then
perform the “bad” actions on the card; ripping it, burning it, punching holes
in it, etc. Finally, the card is turned around to show the signed and
destroyed card is really a picture of Jesus Christ, with the helper’s
signature still on the back! How we treat each other shows what we

COLOR CHANGING WREATHS Spiritual

 Bead Trick by Suds (See picture of some ugly guy holding the props)
Show two plastic tumblers full of beads. One tumbler has read beads, the
other blue. Set the mouths of the tumblers together and give ‘em a shake. All of the beads intermix. How will you ever
get them separated? Place the tumblers together again and place them behind
your back for a split second…Voila! The beads have “magically” returned to

front and back doors. The audience can see right through it…empty! Place a
picture of a glass of milk in the box for a moment, then

FINGERS OR FAITH?
Finally,
a great way to teach how the Holy Spirit guides us in God’s will. (See Isaiah
30:21) Four real, huge rat traps are introduced, all  mounted in their own metal travelling
case. All four springs are then set. You, as the performer, are blind-folded
and turned around. An audience volunteer secretly trips three of the four
traps with pretzel sticks. Each time the pretzel sticks are shattered,
proving to the audience that the rap traps are real! With three sprung, and
one still set, the audience helper covers all four traps with half paper
bags, and then takes his seat. Under
the guidance of the audience, you turn around and “blindly” make your way to
the traps. One by one you hold your hand over each trap. The audience gasps. Suddenly,
you grab a paper bag off of a trap. You’re right, it was already sprung.
Again, your hand hovers the remaining three traps. Again you slam it down on
a bag, crumbling the bag and throwing it away! Again, you are right! The trap
was already sprung. One more to go…One last time you slam down on a bag and
tear it away, revealing the final sprung trap! You did it! You remove your
blindfold to thunderous applause! Then, the lesson is presented. Like the
audience’s directions and spontaneous gasps, the Holy Spirit leads us through
our conscious, warning us when we face wrong decisions. The audience was like
one big Holy Spirit, they gasped when you were about to hurt yourself. But
you listened and stopped…exactly what we should do when the Holy Spirit leads
us away from harm and into God’s will.
The is a great effect, especially if you do 5th grade and
above, youth programs and adult presentations. (Not recommended for 4th

GRANDMOTHER’S NECKLACE See my routine in the Sept./Nov. 2006 “Christian Conjurer,”
entitled “Jenny’s Necklace” A story is told about a little girl who treasures her
fake pearl  necklace. Every night her dad asks her if she
is willing to part with the necklace and give it to him. Every night, the
little girl answers “no.” Finally, when the little girl learns to trust her
father, she turns the fake necklace over to him and he makes it vanish. Then,
the father is able to give his daughter the real thing, and a new pearl
